SAT Essay: Literature

Link of the Day

Do you have a summer reading list yet?  Why should you?  Take a look at this article about the benefits of reading.  Do you agree with this author?

Whether or not you agree with all of the points that the author makes, the concept of "deep reading" is important as you prepare for the SAT essay.  If you go into the SAT test without any idea of what you want to write about, you will end up using the same cliches and hypothetical situations that all the other students use.  That is why you should select subjects ahead of time!  The SAT essay topic is broad; if you are an expert on a select number of historical events, literary works, and current events, you will be able to use strong examples to back up your statements.  Your writing will reflect you knowledge and your score will improve when you draw on intellectual examples in your writing.
