Link Of The Day
There have been some tragic stories of sudden violence and disaster in the news this week, and our hearts go out to all of those affected. Many times the things that you read about in the news are shocking because they happen suddenly. A lot of misinformation can be spread as people scramble for details, so be careful when reading articles about recent tragedies.
As you prepare for the SAT, realize that not every story happens suddenly. Choose at least one story of gradual change. Take a look at this article about the Awa tribe in Brazil. What struggles does this tribe face, and how is the tribe attempting to find solutions to its problems? Think about how you could use this article to support a response to the following SAT essay prompts. Practice connecting this specific event to the broad question types that you will see on the SAT.
- Is conscience a more powerful motivator than money, fame, or power?
- Can success be disastrous?
- Do we need other people in order to understand ourselves?
