ACT Question of the Day

The ACT question of the day is an algebra question that tests your ability to manipulate an equation.  You are given the equation 7y = 2x - 5.  You must solve for x.  All you have to do is systematically isolate the variable.

7y = 2x - 5          (Get the 5 away from the x by adding 5 to each side.)

7y + 5 = 2x         (Get the 2 away from the x by dividing each side by 2.)

Now you have solved for x!  You cannot simplify this problem any more.  Which answer choice has 7y + 5 in the numerator and a 2 in the denominator?

The correct answer is (E).
