7th Grade SAT & ACT

KNOWSYS SAT AND AcT MATERIALS for 7th graders

Did you know . . . ?

Student success on the SAT or ACT in the 7th grade can substitute for the related STAAR EOC and TSI exams. This allows students to jump straight into dual credit classes.

Focus of the 7th-Grade Talent Identification Program (TIP) SAT and ACT Courses:

In the 7th grade TIP (Talent Identification Program), identified top students are given the opportunity to take a high-level, challenging, timed test (either the SAT or the ACT). The experience of preparing for and taking the SAT or ACT as a 7th grader will shape their academic thinking and help them to be better students throughout middle and high school. These students represent the district’s National Merit pipeline, and we believe it is imperative to give them this academic boost early to help them maximize their achievement throughout middle and high school.

Knowsys 7th Grade TIP SAT and ACT Course Pedagogy, Strategies, and Methods:

  • Students learn methods and review content for Math, Critical Reading (including Vocabulary), and Grammar.

  • The Knowsys 7th Grade Course gives students an overview of the test, an introduction to strategic test taking, and knowledge and skills to apply 7th-grade level content knowledge to test-level questions.

  • The goal of the course is to enable students to achieve TIP qualifying scores on the SAT or ACT exam by focusing on applying and extending the knowledge the 7th graders bring with them to the course.

  • Scoring at or above qualifying levels opens the doors to additional advanced academic opportunities from Duke University, Johns Hopkins, Northwester, and other universities.

The 7th Grade TIP SAT or ACT Course Implementation Steps:

  • Provide Information Sessions (prepared by Knowsys) to campus administrators, counselors, and GT teachers
